New Koru space - freedom and fun

It has been lovely to see tamariki swiftly transition into the new spaces. The classroom setups are same internally and just as before children engage within the classroom with blocks, puppets, dress ups, library, drawing, painting, crafts, Lego, Mobilo, puzzles, games and such more activities. What has changed for tamariki is the easy access to extended outdoor space!!

The specially designated bark area is highly admired by children.

Children are enjoying the new found freedom on the fields and the Year 2 playground.  The change in space has fostered negotiation skills in children. We notice ongoing negotiations for making fair and just game rules among peers.

Quick accessibility to Year 2 playground has facilitated risk taking in play.
We notice challenging and enriching play.

Children are enjoying the close connection with the environment, they have started noticing the blue sky and a variety of cloud shapes and sizes.

A writing session during play

Following on from the School karakia, children are fishing in Roto a Rāngi lake.

The captain of the ship is taking his ship to find dinosaurs in the dinosaur world.

A shop getting ready to sell their produce to the customers.

Our favourite play, making potions!!

Collaborative community cooking - a giant soup

Tamariki happily welcome sunny days and also wet days, it has been lovely to see the variety of play in our new spaces !!
